on "Self-Assembly of Colloidal Building Blocks"

Topic / job description:

The goal of this project is to design responsive and dynamic surface coatings based on colloidal building blocks. For this, suitable copolymers and block copolymers will be designed using a combination of sequential controlled / living polymerization techniques, followed by side chain modification or macromolecular conjugation reactions. Such materials will also be used to modify the surface of TiO2 nanoparticles.

Your Tasks:

  • Synthesis and characterization of polymers and block copolymers,
  • Solution self-assembly´in selective solvents,
  • Development of different post-polymerization modification strategies,
  • Supervision of undergraduate students,
  • Participation in teaching activities

Requirements / expected Profile:

  • an MSc (or equivalent) in Chemistry,
  • excellent background in organic or polymer chemistry,
  • highly motivated individual with an interest in joining an interdisciplinary research area,
  • the ability to work creatively and independently towards developing your own research project,
  • excellent English communication skills, both written and spoken
